Supercity Aparthotels’ top five recommendations this August
With Summer in full swing, we’ve pulled together our favourite events for the upcoming month.
If you’re looking for a break from the usual tourist attractions, the Alternative London Tour offers an intimate view into East London – its culture and creativity. Starting and ending near the famous vintage market Spitalfields, just a stone’s throw away from The Rosebery.
Following a tour of the East End, head West to experience a colourful celebration of the diverse local culture at the Notting Hill Carnival. This annual event runs across the 24th and 25th August, promising great food and music, along with its famous parade. It’s also just 20 minutes away from Templeton Place and Nevern Place.
For something more relaxing, Somerset House is once again hosting its Film4 Summer Screening Series. Perfect for long summer evenings, eat alfresco in Somerset House’s famous courtyard and pick your favourite film. What’s more, it’s just 15 minutes from The Rosebery.
London is miles from the beach, so Camden’s Roundhouse has created its own. The Camden Beach returns this summer, with 900 square metres of sand. Not only does the beach come complete with deck chairs, beach huts and an ice-cream van, there are also pop-up restaurants and a beach bar to complete the holiday atmosphere. Perfect for a hot day in the city.
The Southbank is not only a great destination to walk and people watch, it also hosts regular exhibitions and festivals. This August, the Southbank Centre’s Festival of Love is well worth a visit, looking in depth at love, romance and relationships with performances, poetry readings, talks and debates.
