Brighton in Winter

Brighton in Winter

BY SuperCity Aparthotels 13-11-2023

At Supercity we champion those who go against the grain on their travels. We believe that if you play your cards right, the so called ‘off-season’ can become your own personal high season. A trip to Brighton during the winter months can be a wonderful and peaceful way to refresh yourself and beat the crowds before the summer rush. So from atmospheric seaside walks to five-star indoor evening entertainment, here are our top five ways to treat yourself in Brighton this winter.

1. Beach walk

We’re not suggesting you bring your swimming trunks and beach towel, but the Brighton seafront offers something entirely different and just as memorable in winter. Indeed, there’s something extremely special about being on an empty stretch of beach. We recommend a 2-hour walk, starting by the Odeon cinema just 5 minutes away from Q Square and heading to the Marina and back.

2. Brighton Pavilion

Like most of Brighton’s top attractions, the Royal Pavilion is fully accessible all year round. King George IV’s ‘pleasure palace’ is a stunning architectural feat inside and outside, replete with hidden stairwells and secret passages. Much like the seafront, the great thing about going in the winter is that it’s far emptier, and you can join the day tours and evening events without the huge queues.

3. Boutique or Vintage Shopping Spree

Exploring Brighton’s range of clothes stores is an ever-enjoyable way to spend an afternoon indoors. Going in the winter you can enjoy the top pick of a whole range of fresh new stock, from vintage jumpers to designer jackets. Our top charity shop picks is Beyond Retro on Vine Street, whereas for your higher-end purchases we recommend Tribeca on Bond Street for luxury women’s clothing and Thread for menswear.

4. Theatre Royal

For your dose of evening entertainment, the Theatre Royal consistently offers an immense spread of comedy, drama and music at this time of year. Over the next couple of months the 212-year-old venue will give host to the likes of Milton Jones, David Baddiel and Swan Lake. During the winter you can pick up some of the best seats in the house at relatively short notice – check out the listings now.

5. Booth Museum of Natural History

Located slightly outside of the city centre, the Booth Museum of Natural History is ideal for all ages – and completely free. This is a great one for families, as kids can enjoy the regular art activities and opportunities to handle some of the finest ancient artefacts that the natural world has to offer. Alternatively, strolling around and exploring the butterfly and fossil collections can be just as absorbing.
