London Wine Week
As London Wine Week kicked off this week, we thought it would be a good idea to come up with some great London wine bars, so if you’re staying with us, why not check them out? Whether that be all, or some, is entirely up to you…
M Wine Store is the place to go if you fancy a bottle (or two) to take home. Located in the Zig Zag building in Victoria, they have a wide selection for all tastes and budgets and with an in-house sommelier, you can be sure to get some great advice! You can also shop online if you don’t fancy leaving the comfort of your suite or home.
Wine Rooms In Kensington is a great place to visit if you’re staying with us at Templeton Place. With over 40 wines to sample by the glass and over 150 bottles, there will be something for everyone. Even if you don’t know much about your wines, this is would be a great place to start, as you get get your wine in 25ml, 125ml and 175ml. They also have an ‘oyster’ type pre-payment card where your wine is served by an automatic dispenser.
28°-50° in Clerkenwell is a wine workshop and kitchen. Located between Barbican and Farringdon, it’s within easy walking distance from The Rosebery. This is the choice if you don’t like too much fuss with your wine, they have a simple selection of 15 red and 15 white available by the glass, carafe or bottle. Their list changes regularly, so you can try something new each time you visit! A special feature to this place is that they have a unique collectors list from private collectors which enables them to sell unusual mature wines, which are rarely found in restaurants.
Gordon’s Wine Bar is the oldest wine bar in London, opened in 1890. There’s not much to say about this place that hasn’t been said already, just make sure you go if you’re in London and a lover of wine… The decor alone is worth seeing, as they have maintained the original since the 1800’s. Also one of the reasons why we love it, is that they are a family run business and many of the staff have been there for years which is something that really resonates with us!
The Cork & Bottle is not anything special decor -wise, but that may right up your street if you’re all about no-frills! They always have wine tasting and dinner events too, so if you fancy something different, they always have a good turn out. Cork & Bottle also have an online wine shop for all budgets and has a fool proof description and what to pair with.
You’ve heard about our favourite rum bars, and the best ways to make your own cocktails at home -got other requests for our London gurus to take on? Just message us in the comments and we’ll take you up on it!
