London to Paris… A day trip!
We’re lucky to have a great City in such close proximity. If you’re travelling from further afield, a trip to Paris from London or vice versa is always a good idea! We’ll give you our picks below… Now go and book yourself a ticket before you change your mind!
Getting there
The easiest and most popular way is via Eurostar from London St Pancras International- perfect if you’re staying with us as The Rosebery or Templeton Place, with trains direct to King’s Cross St Pancras from both locations! From here you can be in Paris in just over 2 hours. Flying will take just over an hour and with flights departing from many London airports. If you really want to you can also drive via Eurotunnel to Calais and then drive on down to Paris for a further 3 hours but with such good deals available to fly it’s probably not worth it.
What to do and see
Apart from the main attractions, such as the Eiffel Tower, Arc De Triomphe, Nortre Dame, Le Louvre there are so many great things to do and see. We recommend seeing the Eiffel Tower in at night as it sparkles every hour on the hour for 5 mins.
If you like to shop, Champs – Elysees which is Paris’s version of London’s Oxford Street has everything you need from designer boutiques to high street. Try and take a ride in the large Ferris wheel at the very end of the road, it offers some great views.
There are many great restaurants; Bistrotters comes highly recommended by one of our team, they only use seasonal produce, so the menu changes quite frequently. Another recommendation is Le relais de l’entrecote there’s only one thing on the menu; steak and chips with a walnut salad. That’s it. The steak is amazing and it comes smothered in their ‘secret green sauce’! You can’t book here, just turn up on the door.
If you fancy a bougie night out, we recommend Matingnon. You can go straight to the club or have a lively dinner, it’s not cheap, but it’s what you’d expect in its location.
