August, August, August!
Can’t believe it’s August already? Neither can we! Before we pack away the shorts, parasols and Pina Coladas, it’s time to take one last big bite out of summer. Check out our selection below of the best London happenings in August. Now where was that picnic basket…?
If you’ve been entranced by the gorgeous photos of young Prince George and Princess Charlotte, you can get your royal fix by visiting the Buckingham Palace Summer Opening (until 27th September). Go behind the scenes in the ultimate royal residence and for the first time you’ll be able to stride through the Grand Entrance, usually reserved for Prime Ministers and Heads of State. After you, m’Lord!
Looking for something with a bit more of an adrenaline kick? If you missed the Soapbox Race which was hosted this year at London’s own Alexandra Palace, fear not! The Red Bull Air Race World Championships (15th & 16th August) returns to Ascot to take the same high-octane Red Bull energy to the skies! They do say Red Bull gives you wings…
All music aficionados should head to Clapham to start the bank holiday weekend in style at South West Four (29th & 30th August). Showcasing more artists than ever before, including Faithless and Scrillex, SW4 gives you the festival experience without ever leaving Zone 2.
The piece de resistance of the August bank holiday is, of course, Notting Hill Carnival (30th & 31st August). The annual feel good festival engulfs West London, spreading West Indian food, music and dancing in a two day extravaganza that will get even the most conservative spectator on their feet and shaking their hips.
